Submission Requirements:

1.  Please review these instructions carefully. Proposals must be submitted using the application on the reverse side and must provide all requested information. You may now email your proposal materials to the LACPA office lacpsych@aol.com. If you chose to send them via U.S. Mail, you must include five complete unstapled copies. Proposals which do not follow the application format and/or are missing information will be returned without consideration. No honorarium is provided for convention presenters. If presenters plan to attend the full convention, registration is required. Reasonable A/V equipment will be provided.
 

2.  The LACPA Convention Committee is accepting proposals on all topics. Members have expressed interest in programs on PTSD, Parenting, Anxiety, Depression, Sexuality, Substance Abuse Disorders, Treatment issues with Adolescents and Couples Therapy to name a few. Multicultural perspectives on all topics are welcomed.  Proposals will be reviewed by the LACPA Convention Committee. The Committee makes its decision based on the following regulations/guidelines.

  • Proposals should reflect intermediate to advanced levels of learning, the more advanced the better; 
  • A limited number of presentations will be selected; Proposal topics should be based upon clearly stated educational goals and objectives;
  • Proposals should reflect applicability and relevance to doctoral level psychologists in the areas of clinical practice, theory, research, and methodology; 
  • Proposals should demonstrate how the presentation will be organized in order to best facilitate the learning process for attendees;
  • Proposals should be objective (i.e., not reflecting any commercial views of the provider or presenter or anyone giving financial assistance to provider or presenter);
  • Proposals should be accompanied by a syllabus that contains instructional objectives, learning methods (i.e., lecture, slideshow, video, case material, etc.), and an outline of the major points to be presented;
  • Proposals should be complete, accurate, and timely.

For consideration, convention proposals must include:

  • Application completed in full
  • Maximum of 50 word abstract
  • Syllabus
  • CV of each presenter
  • Maximum 60 word bio for each presenter
  • Authorization by all presenters, chairs, moderators
  • References or evaluations from last two presentations
  • 5 unstapled copies of the above and the application if sent via U.S. Mail
  • One B&W photograph, head shot, of each presenter (emailed preferred)

Abstract:
The abstract will be used in the convention program. It must not exceed 50 words.

Syllabus:  Via email, attach a course syllabus which includes:

a) Educational goals of the course (no more than three goals)
b) Outline of main points to be covered and learning methods which will fulfill the educational goals.

References: Or evaluations from your last two presentations. If no references are available, let us know.

Vita and Presenter Identification and Photograph: Attach the CV of the presenter(s). There is a maximum of two presenters for a one and one-half-hour session and three presenters for a three-hour session. In addition, it is vital that a very brief bio (maximum 60 words) be given about each presenter, including degree, licensure, affiliations. The bios will be used in the convention programs. Lastly, include a photograph of each presenter which may be used in convention advertisements. Emailing B&W photo as jpg is preferred. If U.S. mailing, be sure to include five complete unstapled copies of application and above required materials other than the photograph. One photograph of each presenter will suffice.

Authorization:
  ALL PRESENTERS MUST SIGN BELOW TO SHOW AGREEMENT: I/we understand and agree to all of the instructions, rules and regulations. I/We give permission to LACPA to edit the presentation title, abstract, and identifying information, as necessary for publication purposes without notification. I/We grant LACPA permission to audiotape/videotape (if available) the presentation for public distribution and/or sale.
