Embracing Borderline

Presented by: Aimee Martinez, Psy.D.
                         and Claudia Feldman, Ph.D.

Location: LACPA Office

Often clinicians shy away from working with patients who exhibit symptoms of a borderline personality organization. The stigma associated with the population can leave few options for those who need treatment the most. This presentation provides an alternative diagnostic conceptualization for BPD as well as treatment considerations from a Regulation Theory perspective.

Aimee Martinez, Psy.D., is the Director of Clinical Relations for Wright Institute Los Angeles where she facilitates institutional and trainee development in professional marketing. Through her research, she developed a protocol implementing analytic work groups as a supervisory component in Substance Use Disorder treatment centers to aid in decreasing counselor burnout. Aimee's training at the Tavistock Clinic in London inspired her research.

Claudia Feldman, Ph.D., is Clinical Director and a core faculty member at Wright Institute Los Angeles. In addition to her roles at WILA, she maintains a private practice in Los Angeles and has presented research on gender identity, testosterone, and memory expressions across North America. Currently, Dr. Feldman is a Clinical Associate at the New Center for Psychoanalysis, where she continues to deepen her knowledge of psychoanalysis. She has a special interest in family dynamics, individual differences, intimacy, and relatedness.
