Yesterday the BOP voted to withdraw the current CE/CPD Regulatory package. The Licensing Committee will amend/clarify the proposed language in order to provide licensees with clearer information and guidance on fulfilling and documenting compliance with CE/CPD. The draft of this new package is tentatively scheduled to be reviewed at the November, 2015 meeting, and if approved, will be tentatively scheduled for a hearing at the February, 2016 meeting.
Background for this change of course: The Licensing Committee of the BOP meet on July 14 to address licensee concerns about confusing and sometimes conflicting definitions of acceptable methods of accruing and documenting CE/CPD. In addition, Dr. Jo Linder-Crow, CEO of CPA provided the committee with feedback from members regarding their confusion and concerns. Thus, the Licensing Committee and staff believe it is best to provide a clearer set of regulations which will better meet licensee needs to fulfill requirements and provide clear guidance on documentation.
It is not clear whether or not this will delay the eventual implementation dates. I will share any updates about this on the listserv and they will be posted on the LACPA website (go to the right hand side of the page, click BOP tab).
I want to thank Dr. Linder-Crow for her diligence, guidance, and support of members and California psychologists in her continuing effective efforts to advocate on our behalf with the Board of Psychology. I encourage LACPA members to join CPA which is our strongest voice.
