CALL FOR POSTERS
LOS ANGELES COUNTY PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION
TWENTY-NINTH ANNUAL CONVENTION
DOUBLETREE BY HILTON HOTEL CULVER CITY
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 21, 2017
FEATURED AFTERNOON SPEAKER: LESLIE GREENBERG, PH.D.
LACPA invites poster proposals from its student and early career members (within seven years of receipt of doctorate.) Proposals on any research, literature review, or theoretical topic related to the field of psychology will be considered. The LACPA Foundation will generously award $200, $100, and $50 for the posters judged to be the three best at Convention.
What is a poster?
A poster is an excellent way to present your research findings, conceptual model, literature review, or innovative psychological intervention. Posters presented at the LACPA Convention are especially encouraged to help advance professional psychology by presenting information that will improve the practice of psychology.
What does a poster look like?
Key information (brief paragraphs, bulleted outlines, diagrams, tables, graphs) is posted on a sheet of paper, typically in large print to make it easier to read. Posters need to be printed on a single large sheet of paper approximately 24” high x 36” wide. (Do not mount on display boards.) FedEx Office, Staples, or other printing businesses can usually print posters from a PowerPoint file for a reasonable price.
What does the presenter do at Convention?
Presenters will stand by their posters at the specified time to answer questions and engage in a dialogue with other professionals who are interested in the content. Presenters often provide handout summaries to interested Convention attendees.
How do I submit a poster proposal?
1. To submit a poster proposal you must be a current LACPA student or early career member (within seven years of receipt of doctorate). If needed, join LACPA online at www.lapsych.org. Only one poster proposal per applicant. Only one name/author per poster.
2. Email word doc submission of proposals is required. Contact the LACPA office for an application. The poster title and abstract (100 word maximum) is required for consideration. Submissions that do not follow the application form and/or are missing information will not be considered.
3. All submissions must be received no later than Wednesday, June 14, 2017. Submissions received after that date will not be considered.
Please call the LACPA office if any clarification is needed. Applicants will be notified late June whether their submission has been accepted. Since many proposals are received, not all of them will be selected. Rules for the Poster Session will accompany the acceptance letter.
