Mindfulness-Based Eating Awareness Training (MB-EAT): Research and Clinical Application

Presented by: Sheila Forman, J.D., Ph.D., CGP

Mindfulness-Based Eating Awareness Training (MB-EAT) is an evidence-based treatment protocol for overeaters and binge eaters. It was researched and developed by Dr. Jean Kristeller at Indiana State University and is now being taught to eating disorder professionals to be used with their clinical populations. This presentation will offer an overview of the current research in MB-EAT as well as techniques for immediate implementation in clinical practice.

Sheila Forman, J.D., Ph.D., CGP, is a psychologist, certified group psychotherapist, and qualified MB-EAT Instructor. She practices in Santa Monica and offers individual and group psychotherapy. She is the creator of the TAME Your Appetite – The Art of Mindful Eating program, a non-diet approach to weight management. Her other accomplishments include author, university professor, radio talk show host, media psychologist and lawyer.
