Title: You Don't Have to Scratch the Itch: Using Mindfulness to Regulate Emotions through Radical Acceptance, Compassion, and Detachment

This talk will provide information about what happens in the body and brain when emotional dysregulation occurs and how routinely practicing mindfulness can improve stress reactions.  Attendees will be guided through experiential exercises and learn practical tools to help clients manage their emotions through mindfulness. Additionally, clinicians will learn how to manage their own emotions, reactions/countertransference when working with clients in order to provide the best conditions for healing and well-being. 

Speaker Bio: Cynthia Della Ripa is a licensed marriage and family therapist and the Clinical Liaison at Destinations For Teens. Cynthia received her Masters in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University and has provided therapeutic services in elementary and high school counseling services, adoption, inpatient gero-psychiatry, private practice and with adolescents struggling with mental health and/or addiction. Cynthia's experience and training include hypnotherapy, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and providing mindfulness education to youth.  Cynthia is passionate about using mindfulness as a prevention to destructive behaviors and helping others live more authentic lives.

Parking: There is ample street parking and also plenty of free parking at the Sepulveda Basin Sports Complex, 6201 Balboa Blvd. Please note Parking is not allowed at the LACPA building lot during business hours.
