The Mindfulness and Spirituality SIG invites you to join us for our January meeting where guest speaker Leslie Loubier, Psy.D. will discuss ways for us to start or strengthen our mindfulness practice.

Topic: Mindfulness - It’s Not What You Think


Description: “With the current “buzz” surrounding Mindfulness, there so are many possibilities to discover this powerful practice.  But where do you start?  A book, a CD, a class?  Join us for a fun and experiential discovery into Mindfulness and learn how to start or strengthen your own Mindfulness practice.


Mindfulness is a modern practice which stems from an ancient tradition.  In this engaging presentation we will learn some Mindfulness-Based exercises that can help us focus and get off “autopilot”.  These teachable exercises can reduce stress and improve well-being for ourselves and for our patients.


Speaker Bio: Dr. Leslie Loubier is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Mindfulness Trainer, executive and personal coach, author, key-note speaker, university lecturer and workshop leader, with a private practice in Los Angeles, California.  Dr. Loubier’s private practice focuses on Clinical Health Psychology, Integrative Medicine, Performance and Sports Psychology, and Mindfulness Training, helping those with health-related and stage-of-life issues. She teaches Mindfulness to groups and individuals and presents on Mindfulness nationally.  Dr. Loubier trained in Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts, Center for Mindfulness with Jon Kabat-Zinn. She trains individuals and groups in Mindfulness, and also teaches Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) 8-week classes. Leslie has a regular yoga practice and has practiced Insight Meditation since 1997.

The LACPA office address is THE ENCINO OFFICE PARK, 6345 Balboa Blvd, Building 2, Suite 126, Encino, CA 91316 - second building from Balboa Blvd., conveniently located near ample free daytime/weekday street parking on Balboa Blvd, south of Victory Blvd.  Both sides of Balboa have all day free parking.  There is also plenty of free parking at the Sepulveda Basin Sports Complex on the west side of Balboa, south of Victory, 6201 Balboa Blvd. (2nd driveway past the Busway). 3-4 minute walk to the office door.  Wherever you park, please check the signs. 


Parking at The Encino Office Park lot between the hours of 9 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. is restricted to building tenants only.  Please, do not park in the lot at the building.
