you do not have to be a member of LACPA to attend.

Topic: A Collaborative Approach to Serving Coaches and Athletes: Expertise developed over 29 as Director of Sport Psychology Services in a Division I Intercollegiate Athletic program

From 1988-2017, Dr. Dave Yukelson served as the Director of Sport Psychology Services for the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at Penn State University, providing counseling and support to coaches and student-athletes in the areas of motivation and mental well-being; performance excellence and growth mindsets for success; self-regulation techniques for managing competition anxiety effectively; mental preparation and focusing strategies to improve concentration, confidence, composure, and mental toughness to facilitate being resilient competitors on a consistent basis. 

Well respected within the field of Sport Psychology, Dr. Yukelson is a Past President, Fellow and Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) in the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP). He has published numerous articles and book chapters in professional refereed journals, and has presented lectures at numerous local, state, national, and international venues. Dr. Yukelson sits on the Editorial Board for various Sport Psychology Journals, is a registered member in both the USOC Sport Psychology Registry and USA Track and Field Sport Psychology Registry. He has worked with coaches and athletes at all levels of competition including Professional, Olympic, Collegiate, High School, and Youth Sports.

After retiring from Penn State in 2017, Dave spent the past year as a part time consultant and independent contractor for the Athletic Department at Bucknell University, providing workshops and 1-1 counseling for coaches and student-athletes, as well as serving as a member of the Athletic Department’s Student-Athlete Development Team, comprised of the Senior Associate Athletic Director and personnel in charge of sports medicine, athletic training, strength and conditioning, the counseling center, student-athlete welfare and leadership development. After more than 40 years away from their native hometown, Los Angeles California, Dave and his wife Marla relocated to the San Fernando Valley to be closer to family and pursue new professional opportunities.

The LACPA office address is THE ENCINO OFFICE PARK, 6345 Balboa Blvd, Building 2, Suite 126, Encino, CA 91316 - second building from Balboa Blvd., conveniently located near ample free daytime/weekday street parking on Balboa Blvd, south of Victory Blvd.  Both sides of Balboa have all day free parking.  There is also plenty of free parking at the Sepulveda Basin Sports Complex on the west side of Balboa, south of Victory, 6201 Balboa Blvd. (2nd driveway past the Busway). 2-3 minute walk to the office door.  Wherever you park, please check the signs. 
Parking at The Encino Office Park lot between the hours of 9 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. is restricted to building tenants only.  Do not park in the lot at the building.
