The Mindfulness and Spirituality SIG invites you to join us for our September meeting

with guest speaker Rabbi Yael Saidoff, AMFT.

Date: Monday, Sept 23rd

Time: 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Topic: Face to Face, Soul to Soul, Heart to Heart

Description: Psychology literally means ‘the study of the soul.’  Yet, few therapists address the souls of their clients.  Instead we engage at the levels of mind, emotion and behavior.  This talk will present an alternate approach rooted in mindfulness and contemplative spiritual practices.  It will equip practitioners with the tools to cultivate present-moment awareness and to engage their own “deepest selves.”  Therapists trained in these methods can then learn to “see” and “speak to” clients at more profound levels, and ultimately to effect clients’ healing and transformation at every level – mind, body, and soul.

Speaker Bio

Rabbi Yael Saidoff has a strong background in psychospiritual work. After being ordained as a Conservative Rabbi, she taught in a university setting for nearly a decade. She taught a wide range of courses, including character development and comparative mysticism.  Rabbi Saidoff also served as the spiritual counselor for graduate students at American Jewish University (AJU). She continues to lead retreats for AJU and events that focus on couple’s counseling and skills development.

Counseling has always been a central part of Rabbi Saidoff’s career path.  She has worked in residential treatment centers for drug and alcohol abuse, domestic violence centers, as well as congregational settings.  Rabbi Saidoff has helped hundreds of people to traverse critical transitions, during both the highs and lows of life.

In counseling, Rabbi Saidoff draws from her extensive experience with mindfulness meditation. She has taught meditation skills in dozens of community settings, as well as in the course of therapy. Mindfulness can help individuals develop greater intimacy with their own experiences, enabling acceptance and reducing anxiety.

Rabbi Saidoff is also skilled in Depth Psychology and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an evidence based method for treating patients with anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

She is comfortable offering counseling in English and Hebrew.

Rabbi Saidoff lives with her spouse of 19 years, Joshua, and their two children.
