Friday, January 29th - Lauren Marlotte, Psy.D.
Understanding the Needs of Military Families

For over a decade, the deployment of 2.1 million U.S. military personnel to the conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq has been a significant stressor for military families. The presentation will provide an overview of military culture, emphasize the importance of including the family system in providing care, and explore mechanisms of resilience.

Lauren Marlotte, Psy.D., is a Lead Trainer for the Nathanson Family Resilience Center within the UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and   Human Behavior. Dr. Marlotte is a clinical psychologist. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where she specialized in working with adolescents and their families. Her research interests are in the areas of cultural factors, adolescents and their families, trauma, resilience, stress, and coping.
